11.00  Arrival and refreshments

11.30-13.00  Workshop on the theme ‘ Special Places’ for those who wish to try some creative writing (limited to 16 people). No experience necessary!  The workshop will be conducted in English but writing in both English and  Welsh will be welcome. Those not attending the workshop may like to come in the morning to explore the grounds and perhaps be inspired by the special character of the Pales, with its historic Meeting House looking out over the magnificent Radnorshire landscape                                                                  13.00-14.00 Lunch – bring and share.

14.00-15.30 Poetry reading on the theme ‘Special Places’. Bring a favourite poem in English or Welsh to share, or bring a poem of your own (no longer than 40 lines, please). This will also be an opportunity for those who wrote something in the morning workshop to share it.

15.30-16.00 Tea Drinks and biscuits will be provided.

There is no charge for attending this event but a donation (minimum £5) toward the upkeep of the Pales would be appreciated.

The day will be facilitated by Stevie Krayer. Stevie is a poet and a Quaker. Originally from London, she moved to West Wales in 1993 with her Welsh husband, writer David N Thomas, and now lives in Crickhowell in Powys. She finds Wales a country rich in inspirational ‘special places’. Stevie’s publications include three collections of poetry and a translation of R M Rilke’s The Book of Hours. She also co-edited an anthology of Quaker poets, A Speaking Silence (with the poet R V Bailey).
